 HFDM Industry Best Practices - New Version, April 2012

The HFDM Best Practices document has been updated to include the UK AAIB recommendations on 'memory buffering' following the REDL accident.  Click here to download the latest version.
The document is provided by the HFDM Steering Group to aid helicopter operators in implementing an FDM program. The document is a compilation of recognized best practices collected from aircraft operators, industry groups, regulatory agencies, educational organizations and individual experts in this field. It provides useful information to those entities who wish to implement or improve their Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) programs.
The updated, February 2013 version of the HFDM Vendor Equipment and Services document is available by clicking here to download the file.  The document is a compilation of information of value to operators who wish to implement a Flight Data Monitoring programme, or enhance an existing one.   As further information becomes available, this list will be updated and posted here.

Mission
Improve helicopter safety through provision of focus and leadership on issues concerning the manufacture, provision, support and operation of HFDM systems

Goals

  • Co-ordinate users requirements for HFDM systems and support and advise aircraft & equipment manufacturers in meeting those requirements.
  • Provide a source of expertise, information and advice for users wishing to adopt HFDM systems.
  • Development and communication of industry best practice on HFDM matters
